Guide to Playing Golf During Covid-19

A Guide to Playing Golf During Covid-19

Further to the recent announcement made by the Prime Minister golf courses are permitted to re-open from Wednesday 13th May with restrictions.  Silloth on Solway Golf Club will therefore re-open the course from that date with tee times available to book from Tuesday 12th May at 12pm.

The Pro Shop is closed and the only access to the clubhouse will be for toilet and hand washing facilities only.  The disabled toilet will be used for this and both gents and ladies locker rooms will be closed.
Our re opening guide below has been prepared taking in account the government restrictions imposed and advice from golfs Governing bodies.
'Play Safe, Stay Safe'.
As I am sure you will understand, during the lockdown we have only been permitted to perform essential maintenance on the golf course and with minimal staffing levels.  Therefore, in the outset the golf course will not be in its usual pristine condition so please be patient.  It is more important than ever that when you are golfing that you replace divots, repair pitch marks and smooth bunkers (when they are opened).  We thank you in advance for your patience and support during this interim period.

Please note this situation is ever changing and will be kept under constant review.  We may need to make some tweaks and adjustments to the guidance should circumstances or official advice change.  We will keep you up to date with any new information

Take care and Stay Safe.

Silloth on Solway Golf Club Re Opening Plan

Fair Use Policy

After weeks away from the Club we understand how keen you will be to get back playing. To ensure we give all Members the fullest opportunity to play we have decided to implement a fair use policy as follows:

  • Tee times will be available from 7.30am to 7pm.  There may be occasions where the starting time is a little later than 7.30am to allow the green staff time to perform essential maintenance.
  • Members will be able to book tee times from 8am two days in advance.
  • Members will only be able to book or be assigned one tee time per day.
  • All members names must be given when making a booking
  • Staff will be visible around the 1st tee and on the course to ensure players match the tee bookings.
  • For the initial period it will be members only with no guests allowed

Booking Guidelines
Members must book a tee time using BRS and you will be able to book yourself plus one other player.  As per the guidelines you may play in one of the following groups

  • By yourself
  • With one other person from your household
  • With one other person from outside your household

Tee times will be spaced at 10 minute intervals.
What is the Tee Time availability?
o 7 Days a week Monday to Sunday
o Tee Times will be available from 7.30am–7pm
o Only the yellow tees are in play for men

When can I book a tee time?
Tee times can be booked 2 days in advance from 8am each day.  For example at 8am on Monday a booking could be made for anytime on Wednesday
How many times can I book?
We expect the demand for tee times to be high so we are asking members to be considerate of other members and try to limit your play to 2 or 3 games per week. In addition, members are asked to consider playing their golf either midweek or at weekends.  Some members will only be able to play golf at weekends so to ensure tee times are available for as many members as possible if you can play your golf during the week it would be appreciated if you can do so.

We will monitor the demand for tee times and make any amendments if necessary.

Only one tee time per day can be booked.
If you need any help with your log in details for the BRS system then please email

What if I cannot book on-line?
We encourage all members to use the online booking system. If you are unable to do so then please call 016973 32404

Practical Advice on Arrival

We will be operating a one way system around the clubhouse so when you arrive you will need to access the first tee via the top car park down the path beside the pro shop.

When you finish your round you will leave the course via the gate to the back left of the 18th green and walk round the front of the clubhouse back to your car.

  • Ensure Mandatory 2 Metres Physical Distancing at ALL times
  • Give consideration to others when parking your car
  • Proceed to the first tee no earlier than 20 minutes before your tee time
  • The small putting green is open for use by the group waiting to play.  Only one group is allowed on this green at any one time. The big putting green is closed.
  • The practice nets and practice ground will be closed for the time being although plans are being discussed to open the practice ground and we will keep you informed of any changes.
  • The bins on the course will be removed so please take any rubbish away with you.
  • The toilets on the 12th will be closed.  Please avoid urinating in or around the toilet block
  • The holes have been altered so you will be able to retrieve your ball from the hole easier.  Please do not touch the flagstick at all.
  • The bells on the 1st, 4th, 10th and 14th are not in use so take extra care before playing.
  • The bunkers are currently closed and should be treat as GUR.  As it will just be social golf please drop your ball well away from the bunker but not nearer the hole.  This will avoid a collection of divots close to the bunkers
  • On the completion of your round please leave the club as soon as possible
  • Please use the hand sanitiser which can be found on the starters hut before you start your round and on the wall before you go through the gate when you finish your round.

We thank you for your cooperation with these restrictions.  Please feel free to make comment on how the golfing experience could be improved during the current restrictions.

Above all, stay safe and enjoy.
