Silloth On Solway Golf Club is an acclaimed championship links golf course that is regularly listed in the top 50 golf courses in the British Isles.


We are looking to recruit for two positions within our Greenkeeping department:


Assistant Greenkeeper

The individual should fit the following criteria:


  • Be qualified to NVQ level 2 in Greenkeeping/horticulture. (desirable but not essential)
  • PA1, PA2 and Chainsaw certificates would be an advantage but not essential
  • Have a minimum two years experience as a greenkeeper or in a position operating this type of machinery
  • Have a good understanding of machinery maintenance. Mechanical experience/qualification would be an asset
  • Have a flexible and determined work ethic with the ability to work alone and as part of a team
  • An excellent attention to detail
  • Willing to carry out work outdoors in all conditions


This is a full time position 37.5 hours per week. Weekend overtime on a rota basis.


Apprentice Greenkeeper

We are looking for an individual with the following attributes:


Willingness to learn and can learn quickly

Good basic maths and English Skills

Hands on practical person who likes working outdoors

Motivated to work alone and as part of a small team

Passionate about physical work and achieving results in all weather conditions

Self Confident – can ask questions and communicate effectively


The training and assessments to achieve the NVQ level 2 in Golf Greenkeeping will all be carried out on site at Silloth through Myerscough College. Entry requirements are a minimum of 4 GCSE’S Grade D/3 and above including maths and English. English/Maths functional skills level1 is acceptable as an alternative.


This is a fixed term contract position (3 Years) 37.5 hours per week. Weekend overtime on a rota basis (depending on age/legal position)
